No data collection

BookLike does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. No analytics, no tracking.

Dictionary lookups

When you look up a word using the built-in dictionary, the selected word is sent to a third-party dictionary API to retrieve its definition. Looked-up words are cached in memory for the duration of your session to avoid redundant requests, but are never persisted or logged.

Preferences sync

Your reading preferences (font, font size, theme, etc.) are saved using Chrome's built-in sync storage and sync across your devices via your Google account if you're signed into Chrome. Other preferences (such as whether to show the right-click menu) are stored locally on your device only.

No data is sent to BookLike.

Permissions

BookLike requests the following browser permissions:

activeTab

Allows the extension to read and modify the current tab when you click the icon. It cannot access any other tab or run in the background.

scripting

Required to inject the reader interface into the current page.

storage

Used to save your reading preferences (font, theme, layout). Typography settings sync across your devices via Chrome's built-in sync if you're signed into Chrome; other preferences are stored locally.

contextMenus

Adds a "Read in BookLike" option to the right-click menu. This can be disabled in the extension's options.
